CROCHET CAST ON   Using a latch tool, crochet a st around each ndl. Multiple rows can be done two ways: by either crocheting a row and kntting a row, then crocheting the next row either in front or behind the existing row. It is harder to crochet in front of the existing orw, but if you crochet behind the row the complete CO must be turned to be the right side.

LOOP TRIM   E-wrap CO 6 ndls. * Put the carriage into hold position. Place 3 ndls into hold position and K 10 rows on all ndls. K 10 rows on all ndls (take out of hold position). * Repeat between *-* for desired length. Bind off. Use your hand as a weight on the loops or a small claw weight to help the ndls knit off cleanly.

DOUBLE LOOP   As above except alternate sides with the loops and only K 2 rows between the loops on all ndls.

I used a contrasting thread loop, held on loosely as I knit,
to mark the sts to be picked up, until I could easily recognize which to pick up.

Haven't thought of how I could use this one yet!

Ok - I have been given a couple good ideas!
How about hearts in pale pink on a baby girls neckline?

I have a question too. How would you attach it to another knitted item? I can see it as a trim down the front of a pullover or cardigan; as an afghan trim.
Lois on Vancouver Island
I have an afghan book that uses the heart trim to join panels of plain knitting. Haven't made one of those yet, but the pics look nice and the panels would sure be quick with only the joining taking time.

Crochet - Charlene's Twisted Fringe  CharmKnits ©
Also check another version of the twisted fringe done by Gladys Goodey
http://goodeys.tripod.com/goodeysknittingroom/id38.html

This is a great fringe - no cut ends - washes well - no tangles.
Do 1 row single crochet (on cast off/cast on edge or on a chain if not attaching to piece).
Do 2 rows single crochet, picking up 2 bars (or 1 bar, front or back, as preferred - choice gives a little different effect).
Next row: Fringe - Slip st. in first stitch through one(front or back) or two bars as preferred,(again, choice gives a little different effect) and * pull loop of slip stitch to length required for fringe (4 or 5 inches)(experiment to determine desired length). Twist loop ~ ten - fifteen turns, slip st in same stitch. Slip stitch in next stitch through one or two bars as preferred * Repeat * * to end of edge. Work fringe on both ends of afghan, or all four sides, as desired.
The fringe sample pictured above was worked on a chain, picking up 2 bars on the 2 rows of single crochet. The fringes were worked on the back bar or loop of the stitch, the pulled loops were 5 inches long and twisted 12 times. The yarn is 4 ply - worsted weight and I used size H (USA) crochet hook. I lay a piece of paper in my lap while I'm doing this to use as a guide for the loop length. This is a great project to do while watching TV (I can't just sit there!).
Ideas: Fringe on a lampshade using crochet cotton or rayon.--- decoration on a jacket with gold thread! Let your imagination run wild................

Nina's Non-Rolling Afghan Edge

The next to last needle (#6)will be out of work while knitting.

**Working from purl side with tappet tool pick up stitch #4 and twist once.
(Undo and rework stitches as you work up the length of piece.)
Pull out 2 stitches – with tappet tool behind first undone stitch – catch the 2nd and pull through the twisted stitch.
*Pull out 2 stitches - with tappet tool behind first undone stitch - catch the 2nd and pull through.* Continue * to * for the length of the piece.**
(See Figure 1)
